The snow sculpture competition is an annual St. Patrick's Day event at Brighton Resort. The competition pits departments against each other in a good natured contest.

During the night as grooming equipment manicures the slopes for the next day, they scoop up a pile of snow for each department. Here, lift mechanic Jamall Sami puts final touches on his department's huge Ninja Turtle.

The lift operators at Explorer, the lift for beginners, created Snoopy lying on top of his dog house. Adults and kids who are learning to ski and ride get to ski around the enormous Snoopy.

There are nearly a dozen sculptures located around the base of the resort.

When you go: Viewing them is free, so take the family during the next few days. Wear boots or shoes with good soles so you can walk around in the snow to see the sculptures. While you're there you can enjoy a pizza at the Alpine Rose cafeteria or a hot beverage and a waffle at the Blind Miner Cafe.
